A note in my pocket …

I can tell you the Universe is always conspiring for me to have a full, joyful, life. And I can stand by these words today.

That was not always the case.

Have you ever been in despair, in a place where it is unbelievable that there is a bright side? Or are you simply frustrated over something that you just can’t “see the light” on?

I’ve found that when I want a shift, it doesn’t occur by stopping something.

It comes by replacing it with something else.

By God’s grace, my first experience with this occurred at one of the darkest times in my life. I was at the end of my rope and a dear friend said, “Carri, this has helped me.”

“What?”

I choose joy. I may not see it but God provides it, so I choose it.

I wrote it down and placed it in my pocket and I carried it in my pocket for quite a while.

When I thought I just couldn’t quite take one more thing, I would pull out that tattered note and read it…and it got me to the next point.

Later I would come to know that this opened the door to receiving the joy I am showered with today. It all began with a note in my pocket and the willingness to consider something I couldn’t see…and have faith that it was there independent of me seeing it.

It was there all along.
